SEARCH FOR WINDOWS 10 WONT WORK UPGRADE
Another thing i recall that was the last thing i did was upgrade my nvidia graphics card drivers. Was present during it and did not see any mishandling of my hard. I had this start tab not working issue after i got my laptop's hinge repaired. I did the quoted sol but know I cant even seem to log in to windows after the first reboot. Once it is restarted you should go to ms config again and then turn off safe boot and the apply and restart again and hopefully once you have done that things should return to normalI recently encountered this start malfunction. once in the boot tab enable safeboot and the click network underneath it and then click apply then OK it will ask if you want to restart you should restart itĤ. A shortcut for msconfig will show up double click it and click on the boot tab at the top. type in "msconfig", click next and then it will ask you what you want to name the shortcut name it anything you want its not imprtant.ģ. When you are making a shortcut it will ask you to type a location. Go to the desktop, right click anywhere, hover your mouse over new and then click shortcutĢ. I got this issue as well these steps fixed it for meġ. The top part of this worked for me (the first part which refers to having the firewall running) after trying numerous methods over the last couple of days, thanks very much Best of luck to all in your troubleshooting. Now follow the steps in the first section, and it should work. In the top left portion of the Services Window, Click Start this service.ħ. Under Startup Type dropdown -> Select Manual. Right-click the Start button -> Click Runĥ. Use the steps below to enable Windows Firewall and the reverse if you wish to turn it off again afterwards.ġ. If you have previously disabled Windows Firewall or do not have it running, the above steps will result in errors. Right-click in the Powershell window to Paste and then press Enter.ĥ. Find C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe ***YOU MUST HAVE THE WINDOWS FIREWALL SERVICE RUNNING FOR THIS TO WORK***ġ. I created an image backup & repair disk just in case. I added both backup lists that were removed yesterday. Press Windows+R then enter regedit.exe.Ĥ.

After the PC reboots, choose an account to sign in.ģ. Click Advanced Options & set Startup settings to safe mode.Ģ. The easiest way is Start - Power then Shift-Restart. When I started the PC this morning, the message "critical error: start menu not working" popped up & asked to be signed out. I thought that was temporary & shut down the PC last night. Suddenly the START menu did not function any more. I ran registry cleaner in ccleaner yesterday and bravely removed all the "problem" issues that were listed.
